Congrats to Beth for being our January Athlete of the Month! Beth has been a long-time, dedicated member and doesn’t let anything get in the way of her coming to class. She goes above and beyond for us, and we’re so happy to have her as part of our community!
Beth’s workout will happen later this month – read 0n below, in the meantime, to learn more about her and what makes her tick! 🙂
Name: Beth Ginsberg
Occupation: Chef focusing on health and wellness
How long have you been CrossFitting, and why did you start?
3 years. I was personal training for 15 years. My daughter was entering college, and I wanted to budget accordingly. Little do I know it would change my life for the better in every way.
What is your favorite WOD?
bench press/front and back squats/deadlifts/rowing
What’s on your suck list?
50 or more wall balls or thrusters
If there were one movement you wish the coaches didn’t know, what would it be?
What is the strangest talent you have?
Cooking without ovens!
Describe your biggest milestone, achievement or “a-ha” moment?
Raising my daughter as a single parent and experiencing the wonderful soulful human being she has become.
What can you do now that you thought you’d never be able to do the first time you walked through the gym doors?
Funny, I thought CF would be a breeze since I’d been training for years. Lol, I never thought I’d make it the first 8 months. Now I can squat low, lift heavier, row for miles, do a head stand…and I love the way I feel every time I leave CF. Every WOD is an achievement.
Any advice for people just getting started or new to CrossFit?
Be patient with yourself, understand your capabilities, don’t be afraid to talk and discuss movements with your coaches, and most of all keep showing up. Trust me, it is worth the effort. Now only will you feel great mentally, you’ll improve your strength and physical capabilities. Best, you’ll meet some of the most inspiring and great friends from all ages and diverse occupations.
